A hidden gem!
On our most recent roadtrip, we wanted to find a small business restaurant to support. Being in Lexington, the “bourbon” part of the title interested me. When trying to to find this restaurant, the GPS took us directly to it, but there was a restaurant about two doors down that we thought was actually this restaurant. Come to find out, there is a small window and door and that is where this gem lies.
Then we realized that it did not actually have anything to do with the drink bourbon, but more on the lines of Bourbon Street when it came to Mardi Gras. This did not deter us, though, as we were in love when we walked inside. Very colorful atmosphere, Mardi Gras beads hanging all over the place, Local and Louisiana type art decorating the walls and tables.
Upon entering, the worker who was extremely friendly, explained everything about the dishes and how they came. We were very impressed by him! 😀
We ordered two dishes that were half-and-half. One had Chicken Etouffee and Gumbo. The other was Red Beans/Sausage and Chicken Creole. Once I took a bite, I was instantly taken back to my childhood when I lived in Biloxi, Mississippi. Something about the taste just took me all the way back. I’m not even sure which item it was that I tasted or mixture of everything that it brought back. I cannot forget the butter bread. That was probably one of the most amazing breads I have ever tasted and went very well with these meals. 🍞
They had numerous sauces to accompany your meals. The food definitely had a kick in a few areas, but it was absolutely amazing! 🔥
I would come here again and again and suggest others give it a try if you haven’t and are in the area!
A very laid back setting. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.

Bourbon n Toulouse is such an awesome find here in Lexington! It’s some great cajun food and There’s a great system going on! It’s counter service and the service is extremely quick. I was so impressed.
I visited here my first night I lived in Lexington because I love Cajun and Creole food and I thought it would be a fun thing to do with my parents before they left. The food is extremely affordable and the portion sizes are amazing.
My meal was a half-and-half order of the chicken creole and the gumbo. I liked both, but I will say that the chicken creole was my favorite. I am a gumbo lover, but unfortunately the gumbo was extremely salty, and me, my mother, and my father all agreed that it was hard for us to stomach. That part was a bit disappointing, as I was really hoping to find some good gumbo and Lexington, but the other part of my order was still delicious, and we all felt the same way about the other parts of our orders. The bread is delicious, too.
They have a great takeout system, and the people working at the counters were so kind and helpful, as well as efficient. We really appreciated our visit!

Authentic creole food makes you feel like you are back in New Orleans. Service is very casual, you order at the counter, but the staff are super friendly, provide samples to help you decide that to order, and the food is ready before you are even done paying for your order! I even got a sweet tea on the house because it was my first time here. I wanted to try all their specialties so I had a half and half. Overall very satisfying meal, at a very good price. The parking here is a bit hard to find, you have to get lucky with street parking but other than that there is no complaints at all.

Great service, the food came out quickly and everyone was super friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and upbeat, and the food was delicious! I was thrilled to find a place that serves Crawfish Etoufeé which I haven't had since I was in Baton Rouge last. The potato salad was also fantastic, though I will mention that it did have a smidge of heat to it, as did pretty much everything we tried. That said, even my mom who "doesn't do spicy" was very happy with her meal

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Came back to Lexington again in 2025 and had to get dinner here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The staff has been great each time! We are a fan of cajun food and this restaurant hit the spot! Because we were from out of town, they let us sample some of their best dishes! It helped us in ordering. The guy at the cash register was so friendly and kind to us! Prices were so reasonable. Artistic place too!

My friend and I stopped here from out of town; very impressed with both the non-vegan and vegan options. The food was EXCELLENT, staff was very friendly. Black beans, etoufeé and jambalaya were all excellent. Would come back in a heartbeat. Bellamy the travel frog gives it 5/5 frogs.

Giving this location 5 stars because I love the owners and restaurant but today I got gumbo that was like licking a salt block and didn’t include shrimp. The jambalaya was ok but everything was off today (02/13 12:00) again I support this business due to their good practices and their food is usually very good but today was a miss.

It‘s a great local place to get some really good southern food. The outside doesn’t look appealing, but you get the charm once you’re inside. You can choose between many different delicious dishes (as well as mix them) for very fair prices. One of the best places in Lexington to get great value for the price. Though it’s not a place where you would sit down forever and get a romantic dinner.
